TEXTILE FIBERS
Textile fiber is the fibrous raw material from which textile fabrics are made. Cotton is the most important textile fiber in Mozambique and represents about 90% of the textile fibers produced in the country.
In addition to cotton, the sisal crop stands out, with greater impact in the northern part of the country, specifically in the province of Nampula, in the districts of Monapo, Angoche, Ilha de Moçambique, Mossuril and Memba.
The tradition of cotton and sisal production in Mozambique is centuries old and has gone through various phases and models.
